Not a lot more to say than that. I've been off the horse for a while, and I'm slowly getting back on.
Screwball Conditioning is gonna be a twice a week blog (Tuesdays and Thursdays), outlining the progress I'm making on Paul Wade's book, Convict Conditioning.
I've got a couple of other athletic endeavors happening this fall, so you might see a few items about those peppering my notes on this journey to the Big 6, but for the most part, this is gonna be a travelogue of a very personal journey.
Sorry for the delay and all, but life intervened. Maybe we'll discuss it, probably not.
More tomorrow.
Yeah, it's a condition.

Sangre Nuevo - Knee Tucks and Pushups
Yeah, I'm in as bad of shape as I thought I was. Okay... not as bad. I didn't think I was actually going to make it through the first day's worth of work sets. But I did... and didn't die... not dying is a good thing.
I've got some space marked off on the balcony for the wall pushups and, at the moment, I'm doing the knee tucks on a chest in the living room (really don't feel like dragging it back and forth from the balc to the den).
I've got my training journal marked up so that i can take notes on-the-spot. I'll copy the pertinent stuff back over here.
I was going to post some pics today, but couldn't quite work out the right camera placement. I gotta rig up some kinda tripod, today's mexican-engineering didn't quite swing it.
so, cool. one day down. tomorrow's a rest day.
I CAN DO THIS!

Disclosure
I don't know if I need to do this or not - the FTC ruling about bloggers is still untested - but here goes:
I'm not getting any money or kickbacks or anything from Paul Wade, Dragon Door Publishing, or anyone remotely affiliated with the book Convict Conditioning. I'm doing this because I think his book sounds great. It makes sense and I want to do it.
I'm documenting it because if the process does work for me, then heck, it's proof that it can work for ANYBODY. Honestly, if it works for me, I want to see the changes in my body, mind, and spirit, which, for me, anyways, is evident through my writing.
Got it? Good.

And so it begins...
So, I'm taking the plunge on something that kind of came out of nowhere. For years now, I've wanted to be able to pull my fat-ass up off the ground and do a full-on pullup. (I always flunked that part of the Presidential Fitness Test) I've also wanted to push my fat-ass off the ground and do a full-on military pushup. I'd pretty much given up on the idea because every time I try to start a process, I get discouraged and just punk out.
Not this time. I am currently reading Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade and have been blown away, intellectually, by his presentation of a coherent and complete program to take you from chump to champ in the strength arena. I know some people have been put off by the title. Screw 'em. This book is well put together and inspiring. It doesn't glorify prison culture, it doesn't even glorify the author. It does, however, make you believe that anybody can do this if they put their mind to it and really desire to make success a reality.
I'm right there.
I'm going to start the beginner workout exactly as he has it laid out. Two days a week for a while, until I'm on stage 6 of the four core exercises. I'll get some pictures posted so that I can do some before and during comparisons. (there is no "After" - this system is a continual work in progress, a lifetime of improvement)
Yeah, it's a condition.
