And so it begins...

So, I'm taking the plunge on something that kind of came out of nowhere. For years now, I've wanted to be able to pull my fat-ass up off the ground and do a full-on pullup. (I always flunked that part of the Presidential Fitness Test) I've also wanted to push my fat-ass off the ground and do a full-on military pushup. I'd pretty much given up on the idea because every time I try to start a process, I get discouraged and just punk out.

Not this time. I am currently reading Convict Conditioning by Paul Wade and have been blown away, intellectually, by his presentation of a coherent and complete program to take you from chump to champ in the strength arena. I know some people have been put off by the title. Screw 'em. This book is well put together and inspiring. It doesn't glorify prison culture, it doesn't even glorify the author. It does, however, make you believe that anybody can do this if they put their mind to it and really desire to make success a reality.

I'm right there.

I'm going to start the beginner workout exactly as he has it laid out. Two days a week for a while, until I'm on stage 6 of the four core exercises. I'll get some pictures posted so that I can do some before and during comparisons. (there is no "After" - this system is a continual work in progress, a lifetime of improvement)

Yeah, it's a condition.
